The Relationship Between Ego and Insecurity

Super cool to find wisdom in 140 characters or less. @SunniBrown managed to get me thinking all morning using twitter!

I wondered about the relationship between ego and insecurity.

Which come first? Ego or insecurity.

Does someone’s insecurity cause them to develop an ego to protect themselves?

Or

Does someone start out in life being told they are better than all the other kids in class, tie their identity to “being better” and then start becoming increasingly insecure as the perch they build for themselves become more and more precarious?

In the end I went with insecurity being the driver of ego.

Being the queen of visual thinking I am sure Sunni already has this in some super cool doodle, but my mind immediately saw this graph.
